Earnings Distillation
A pre-configured workflow that consumes every earnings call in your watchlist and emits a structured signal: deltas vs consensus, guidance change, management tone shift, and a Skeptic verdict against your thesis.
Overview
The Earnings Distillation template handles the part of analyst desk work that is most easily automated and most painful to do manually: reading every earnings call in your universe the same day. The Temporal workflow consumes the prepared remarks and Q&A as soon as the transcript is available, attaches quant context, runs the SkepticValidator against the watchlist’s Investment Diary, and emits a structured signal you can read in 90 seconds.
What it produces
Deltas vs consensus
Revenue, EPS, gross-margin, and guidance deltas vs sell-side consensus. Sourced from the print + the call; never single-source.
Guidance change
Forward guidance ranges, raised / cut / unchanged classification, and the specific language used to justify the change.
Management tone shift
Quarter-over-quarter tone delta on prepared remarks. Hedging-language frequency, certainty markers, and the Q&A defensiveness score.
Thesis reconciliation
Skeptic checks each Day-1 condition from the Diary against what was said. Outputs PASS / DRIFT / BREAK with the specific quote that triggered each.
Example signals
Source 1: 8-K (Tier 1). Source 2: earnings call transcript (Tier 2). Data-center revenue +12% vs consensus, guidance raised. CFO tone neutral-confident, no hedging-language increase. Thesis intact; no Trailing Stop adjustment required.
CapEx guide up 18% YoY, FCF guidance soft. Day-1 condition ‘FCF margin expanding’ now at risk. Thesis Guard escalates; trailing stop tightened from -10% to -7%.
CEO hedging language up 3x QoQ. Guidance cut 8%. Break-condition ‘accelerating top-line’ explicitly contradicted. Thesis Guard fires; action queue surfaces a reconsider proposal with evidence. Closure reason and decision logged in the Evidence Vault.
